Unveiling Spiritual Infidelity

Jeremiah 3:2-3
“Look up to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been ravished? By the roadside, you sat waiting for lovers, sat like a nomad in the desert. You have defiled the land with your prostitution and wickedness. Therefore, the showers have been withheld, and no spring rains have fallen. Yet you have the brazen look of a prostitute; you refuse to blush with shame.

We don’t ever want someone to be upset or disappointed because of our unrepentant actions, and we still expect them to love and forgive us over and over, taking advantage of their merciful character. Let us not do this with God, abandoning him for other false idols, multiple searching for fulfillment, only the One true God can fill. That’s why we have so many idols. It’s like adultery, which is room for divorce. Do you want to divorce God and his steadfast love, mercy, and grace? Even though you turned away doesn’t mean you have to continue. He is forgiving, loving, and merciful, and will heal you when you consistently turn to Him. Even if you’re worn down and broken, the Lord will instill a supernatural strength in you to keep going. Don’t let your idolatry divorce you from your creator, blocking the blessings he has for you, because you constantly remain in a polluted environment that infiltrates your mind and heart and won’t turn to Him.

Let us pray,

God help us not to let our actions of idolatry divorce us from you. We are thankful for your forgiveness, mercy, and grace. How you love us so! Thank you for not giving up on us or continuing to look at us in anger. Let us get rid of idols that distract us and pollute our hearts and minds, leading us to not receive the blessings you have for us. Remove our idols, expose them, and let your love and blessings wash over us like a flood. Humble us and help us to acknowledge our wrongdoings, enable us to have a heart of continual repentance. Transform us so that we live lives that are pleasing to your eyes and not live in spiritual infidelity, blindness, and pride that these many things we prioritize that don’t fulfill us are better than you. Help us to build a habit of prayer and reading your word more to have a deeper relationship with you, to know you and just not of you, prioritizing you, seeking you first in our lives because you are sovereign over all. Teach us why a relationship with you is important, leads us to life, and how misplacing our worship in empty idols is harmful and sinful. Thank you, Jesus, we ask this in your mighty name, amen!
