Let God Mold You

Jeremiah 18:6

He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.

Be soft, you don’t have to be strong. God will do the rest. Do not be with hardened ears, eyes, and a heart of stone. “You are stubborn and blind; you ignore my voice, and your own disobedience hurts you and those around you”.

Let God mold you. It’s uncomfortable, so is pruning, but with molding. Be soft, malleable like clay. Be still, rest, and God will do the rest. Just stay fastened like a belt on Jesus, and you will be molded and see the beauty God has for you. If you have a pulse, you have a purpose. You are to be made into a vessel. It’s ok if the pot breaks and has a few cracks along the way. You have the Potter; the pot can’t do the Potter’s job. So don’t do God’s job. Sometimes the pot will be so broken into pieces, but the Potter made it. He won’t let his work that he knows go to waste. And what’s clay and the finished creation without the artist? We all came somewhere. We’re not all perfect. At least if we get hurt, scuffed, or broken along the way, we have the Potter to mold, mend, heal, and fix us, even the damage we do to ourselves without noticing or not staying near to him. We are made in his image. You and the gifts he gave you are an instrument. Even if you don’t know your gift, the senses he gave you, your eyes, ears, and mouthpiece, are to be used as an instrument for the kingdom of God.

Let us pray,

Thank you, Abba, that we can rest in your presence. Thank you for always working in the dust, ashes, the cracks, and brokenness in our lives. Help us to be still and know that you are God, you are all things, and the creator is one of them. You are a creative God, an artist who crafts the world and the ones in it with no mistakes. So, what worry do we have when everything is made perfect by your mighty hand? Lord, mold us. Thank you that we are your handiwork. Help us to surrender to your divine craftsmanship, God, and let it not go to waste. Let us not waste your craft, the purpose you have for us. Help us to trust your plan and remain still but pliable when difficult circumstances arise, still fastened on to you. Help us to be your mold. Mold us, God, with the fruits of the spirit, with grace, wisdom, patience, faith, love, and self-control. Let us be transformed for your glory, for the betterment of ourselves and others around us. Thank you, Lord, in your mighty and matchless hand, a hand never too short to save us, we pray, amen!

Reflection Questions

  1. Are you allowing God to mold you? If not, what are the areas in life or your circumstances that you need to be more malleable and surrender to God’s plans for you?
  2. How have you seen God’s hand at work in your life? What are the things that he’s molded or is counting to mold in you?
