Healing Begins with Reconciliation to God

Do you want to heal? Do you want to be free and be free forever? Do you want the same for others?

Reconciliation isn’t just individual but a mutual act between you and the others involved; at first, it is an individual step to do the inner work towards healing. A healed you, a reconciled heart and mind back to God, fosters growth, prosperity, and stability for those around you.

What is reconciliation?

To be reconciled: to bring back in alignment, reunite someone or something with someone after separation for the goal of mutual harmony, lasting peace, love, justice, etc.

What takes place:

  • Restored trust
  • Truth and accountability
  • Forgiveness

What to expect:

  • A gradual process for relationship restoration involving consistency and full participation.

To be reconciled to the heart and mind of God and the Spirit is…

To love him (remain in intimacy), to love others, keep his law, to do his good and perfect will that will enable security, safety, success, and overall blessings that bring honor to God and his diligent servants (Deuteronomy 6:24-25, 28)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! [18] All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: [19] that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. [20] We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. [21] God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Reconciliation is not just forgiveness, but the full act of adopting a new mindset that influences thoughts, emotions, speech and actions by of continual repentance, forgiveness and the putting off the old self ( desires, beliefs, routines) so the new fertile foundation can birth restoration and steady growth and cultivating a steadfast relationship with the Lord to be able to be in alignment with the Lord’s will. (Romans 12.2, James 1:22-25).

God wants everyone, yes everyone, to exemplify His image the way He ordained so that everyone can come to repentance, accept his gift of salvation, inherit the Kingdom of heaven not by works but by faith, and receive necessary sanctification with the partnership of the Holy Spirit to keep us from evil ( perils of sin, suffering, death).

7 Steps to Heal: Be reconciled to God

  1. Set private time aside to talk with God, remain in the secret place, and come with an open heart and mind.
  2. Acknowledge past hurts, guilt, disappointments, and grievances.
  3. Be honest with yourself and God.
  4. Confess and repent for known and unknown sins, Forgive out loud, and ask the God of restoration to restore you and create healthy relationships.
  5. Make it a mission out of love and faithfulness to desire healthy growth and change. Ask God to open your mind to Him. Ask the Lord to grant you the patience, faith, and strength to continue when it becomes uncomfortable or when you feel stagnant in growth, and trust that he is working.
  6. Be fully committed to this. Don’t delay until you feel ready. Act now. Reconciliation isn’t only for you; understand that your life isn’t your own, and it matters. God will use your flaws and pain for your good and His glory.
  7. Read His word, learn about God’s nature, the nature of Christ, and ask him to reveal to you ways that you are woven in his perfect plan and how you can do the work!

 Reflection Question:

Are you reconciled with God? If not fully or not at all, what are the barriers hindering you from doing so? Reflect and give it to God.

Prayer of Reconciliation

God, here I am, though I’m not perfect, I thank you that it doesn’t deter you from me. I lay all my past hurts, shame, grief, and pain at your feet. I invite you not just in these parts, but all of me. Make me new daily, help me to trust you, and help me to obey. Create in me not just a clean heart but an honorable character continuously rooted in you, may I be of good use to you. Render my heart and mind to you that I may have everlasting fruit in you, and so I can preserve the inheritance of salvation, keep me sensitive to your spirit, your voice that I may turn no other way but to you, lead me, I’ll follow you, in Jesus name, Amen.
